Gold philharmonic coin

The 1 oz gold philharmonic coin was first offered for sale on an Austrian coin in 1989. The 1 oz gold coin was made of 0.9999 pure gold worth 2,000 Austrian shillings. In 2002, the adoption of the euro changed the face value of the Philharmonic's gold coins to EUR 100. Since its inception, the Gold Philharmonic Coin has remained an image of the large organ of the Wiener Musikverein Golden Hall on the front and a number of instruments, including cello, violin, harp, Viennese horn and bassoon on the opposite side. To mark the 15th anniversary of the Gold Philharmonic in 2004, the Austrian 1000 oz gold coin produced the "Big Phil" gold coin worth € 100,000 and the 20th anniversary produced the 20 oz gold philharmonic coin. Today, Gold Philharmonic coins come in a variety of sizes, including 1/25 oz, 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz and 1 oz Gold Philharmonic.

A series of coins of the Austrian Philharmonic
In addition to the different sizes of gold philharmonic coins available, the Austrian Mint introduced in 2008 a silver philharmonic coin containing 1 oz of 0.999 sterling silver and two sizes of 0.9995 platinum philharmonic coins: 1 oz platinum version in 2016 and 1/25 oz Platinum in 2018. Both the Silver and Platinum Philharmonic have the same design as the gold philharmonic coins, which honor the Vienna Hall of the Vienna Music Association and the various instruments of the Vienna Philharmonic.
